He worked at Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital as for 8 yrs in the ICU before treating patients in the out-patient office setting. During his time in the ICU he acquired many critical skills in safely managing sedating and therapeutic IV infusions and injections. In he early years as a Nurse Practitioner he worked in chronic pain management at Utah Pain Relief Institute and mentored under Osteopathic Physician Dr. Gary Child and then began using Ketamine therapy at Life Spring Pain Management Center under Physical Pain and Rehabilitation Physician Dr. Christian Obah. He quickly realized the therapeutic benefits it had on patients. In 2016 he started started working at Cedar Psychiatry and mentored under Psychiatrist Dr. Reid Robison. In February 2019 Dr. Hooton decided to enter into private practice where he could further help treat the chronic conditions and mental illness of his patients.

Dr. Hooton has been using Ketamine for depression since 2016 and is passionate about providing mental health care to his patients. He is dedicated to further advancing his knowledge of psychiatry, addiction, treatment resistant mental conditions, and complex medication management.
